May Goals and Bullet Journal Spread

I’m looking outside right now and it’s so sunny! Hallelujah.

For the first time since January I’m going to talk about my goals for the month (and year) ahead.

  • Get down to 12 stone anything

So I was around 12 and a half stone at the beginning of the year and I have gone in the wrong direction. Due to my down period of the last few months continuing I put on about a stone. So I’m now hovering just below 13 and a half stone. That was a major blow for me as I haven’t weighed that much since 2013. That was my heaviest weight where I felt so unhealthy and decided to join Slimming World for the first time. So I just want to get back to 12 stone anything to make a start on getting on track with my 2018 goal of getting to my happy weight of 11stone. Fingers crossed!

  • Do a car boot sale

There’s so much stuff to declutter in this house. It feels like it will never end but getting to a car boot will definitely help things. And help raise some pennies for our Japan trip next year. We’re hoping to get to a car boot this Sunday as currently my weather app says it will be sunny. I hope it works out as it’s the bank holiday weekend and footfall is usually increased!

  • Get a secure stream of income

I’m really working on that this month. My 2018 goal was to just make some fecking money so I intend on doing that. Will keep you posted.

  • Raise £100 for Japan

I really really really want to go to Japan. It’s such a dream and with what we’ve raised so far it could really be possible for Topher and I to go next summer. So I’m really getting my skates on this month so get another bundle of cash added to our pot.

  • Paint two living room walls white and polyfill holes

Now this one can only happen if I secure some income so fingers crossed. As I mentioned in my 2018 Home Decor Goals post I really want to finish the living room off. Painting the walls grey was a good idea but I think painting all of them grey wasn’t the best as it’s quite a dark room that doesn’t get much sunlight. So I’m injecting a bit of white.

May Goals - main page

As for my bullet journal spread, things have been working for me by keeping things as simple as possible. I’m still using my Leuchtturm 1917 dotted A5 bullet journal* and have been fully in the minimalist zone. However I wanted to inject a bit of colour and creativity back into it. So welcome back washi tapes and coloured felt tips.

I noticed other people using a calendar layout in their bullet journals so I thought I would give it a go. I love how it looks. It of course took longer than my usual list style calendar but it’s a lot easier on the eye. Now I can see the weeks laid out ahead. I think I’ll be keeping this style up.

May Goals - calendar

Of course I had to include a page for my freelance hours. Since taking this photo I’ve added in boxes for each client and it looks pretty good. Much better than my old approaches of just columns where all my clients are shoved in.

And I think I’ll always keep up the weekly goals as otherwise it’s so easy to just lose track of your main goals throughout the month.

2018 Bullet Journal Setup

bullet journal setup - 2018

I finally got round to doing my bullet journal setup for 2018.

After falling out of love with bullet journals at the end of last year I’m determined to have a fresh start this year. Once again I’m planning on easing myself in gently and going with a more minimalist approach. This meant saying goodbye to habits like the daily tracker and mood tracker etc. It was just too much pressure. I want to have fun again so here’s what my bullet journal looks like so far for 2018.

I decided to keep the same bullet journal* that I got last September – the Leuchtturm 1917 dotted A5 bullet journal as I loved it. I may not have used it as much as I would have liked but when I did it was a dream. The dotted pages make such a difference when setting up.

bullet journal setup - outside

So I simply turned the page on 2017 and started fresh with a hello 2018 motif and my goals that I talked about last week. I had a load of washi tapes that were on the end of their roll that I didn’t know what to do with them so I decided to use them here. I like the effect – messy and imperfect. It’s what I’m going for this year.

bullet journal setup - main spread

As I always find them useful I did a year at a glance as well as a tracker for Japan savings. I’d seen someone do something similar to this for a Disney trip on Pinterest somewhere. Plus I thought it might be fun to colour in the blocks every time I raise £100. Fingers crossed I can raise the money now!

bullet journal setup - calendar & japan savings

I’ve always loved using bill trackers as you can see and this year is no different. It’s nice to be able to see what has been paid and what still needs to go out of my account so I don’t accidentally spend the money meant for it. Ignore the right side a bit as I messed that up and haven’t found a rubber yet. I haven’t filled the tracker out completely yet as I’m a bit picky and like it to be in date order. I don’t know the date for when our internet goes out yet as it’s not going live until next week (missed having wifi so much!) so I’m waiting until then so I can be sure.

bullet journal setup - bill tracker

As I’m planning on diversifying my income this year, I thought it would be good to have one place to round up how much I’ve made each month. I kinda messed it up so ended up with an extra column I didn’t need (biggest earner) so just came up with something random to fill it.

When it comes to my weight loss, since I’ve been using bullet journals I’ve been going with a graph spread. But overall I’ve found it demotivating so I’m trying this approach of colouring in a block when I lose half a pound. Let’s see if it works. That’s the fun thing about bullet journals, it’s all trial and error and you end up with something that’s perfect for you.

bullet journal setup - earnings & weight

Since I love a good list, I figured it would be a good idea to dedicate pages to my different businesses to have a running to do list for each.

So now it’s time to set up January. I started with goals of course but instead of the usual 10 I used to do, I’ve narrowed it down to 5 so it’s more realistic to achieve.

And then of course the month at a glance. I’ve only just started filling it out but I always find these handy so I avoid double booking myself.

Then I started with my usual weekly goals and daily to do lists.

Below are some other useful pages I have in my book but there was no need to migrate them forwards.

I didn’t end up using this though I liked the idea. Again I just found it to be too much pressure to tick off all the time.

April Goals and Bullet Journal

Hello April!

So far I am loving the longer days. Summer is on the way! But then that also means our wedding is in 3 and a half months and there is still so much to do (particularly on the DIY front). Nervous squeak*

So here are my April Goals

  • Lose 6lbs

It’s a long shot as I’ve been doing so dismal lately on the losing weight front but it has to be done. As I mentioned in my 2017 goals post, I gave myself the target of May to reach my target weight. That was so I could have my first dress fitting and not have to worry about my weight after that because let’s face it – who wants to give a crap about that when there’s far more important things?

So I was 1 stone, 6 and a half pounds away from my target in January. So where am I now? I’m 1 stone, 5lbs away. So yes you heard that right. I’ve lost a total of 1 and a half pounds since January. I did get to 1 stone and 2 pounds away but life happened. So obviously I’m not going to be able to lose all that in a month so I just set it at 6 pounds. If I get that I’ll be more than happy as it will get me to the lowest weight I’ve been in almost 10 years.

I’ve been eating so much crap recently that I’m seriously craving fruit right now so I’m going to harness that craving and I’m going to get that 6lbs.

  • Do a car boot

Car boot season is upon us! Not only do I have a couple of boxes for decluttering, but I also want to browse a couple of car boots to try and get a couple of things for wedding DIYs. So hopefully we’ll be able to get one sunny weekend this month to be able to do it.

  • Walk 155,000 steps

For my health! I set myself a target of 2 million for the year and during January and February I was no where near my target. March however I didn’t get the 155,000 steps but I did get to 152,689 which is a hell of a lot closer than I got previously. I’m definitely planning on reaching it this month! And I’m already on the way over the last couple of days and this weekend I’m helping my Slimming World consultant leaflet some houses so that will help!

  • Make flyers for Begin.Create and distribute

Another sneaky way to get my steps in! And I’ve been planning on getting some old fashioned advertising in for my business for a couple of months now. Last week I finally sat down and designed some so I’m just trying to pick which one is best. What do you think? Which is your favourite?

  • Finish making paper flowers for the table centrepieces for the wedding

This has been on my goal list every month but I am no where near. With 3 and a half months to go, I’ve got to step up my game. Especially since my mum has been so kind as to cut out zillions of petals for me. Thanks mum!

  • Sort out the garden

With all the rain month I barely got a chance to get in the garden. Currently half the grass has been mowed and that’s it. So this month I want to finish that, put up the border I bought last year and plant some sunflowers. Plus the grass needs some serious weeding!

  • Finish sorting out old posts on the blog

After installing a new widget that recommends other posts after every blog post, I discovered that I hadn’t set any featured images so half of the photos are blank on it. Oops. So I’ve slowly been going through and adding them in. But with 5 years worth of posts, it hasn’t been a quick job. So I’d love to finish that this month too.

I’ve set up my bullet journal for the month

See my previous post on how I set it up for the month

I’ve already been having a busy April with a wedding and my mother in law to be’s 50th!

April Goals - bullet journal

I kinda dropped the ball on recording my level 10 life during the last week so I really want to keep track this month.

April goals - level 10 life

The same goes for my habit trackers. The last week had no data whatsoever. I think I just lost my mojo a bit. It’s definitely back now though!

How I Set Up my Bullet Journal for the Month

Hello March!

Bullet Journal - Luna
Today I’m going to show you how I set up my bullet journal for the month. I’ve finally got the perfect routine for me which works great for my lifestyle. In the past I had things that weren’t relevant to me as well as missing out rather important things that I definitely need!

Tools I Use

Bullet journal - llama pen
I like to keep things simple but still make things look pretty so washi tape is a big player in that. I finally used my Paperchase voucher I got for Christmas and got myself some awesome washi tapes from the No Problama range. And I couldn’t help myself, I had to get this llama pen too. After spotting it on Instagram it had to be mine…even if it is a bit ridiculous!

Otherwise it’s just good old felt tips for me. I think colour makes a big difference without having to go out and buy a load of stickers. For everything else I have a biro, pencil and ruler for my tables.

March Set Up

Bullet Journal - things that happened
I start by making a blank page for me to fill in during the month of things that happened that I’d like to remember. It’s nice to look back on and it makes doing my year in review post in December a breeze! I include nice meals, films we went to see, fun activities and milestones met.

Bullet Journal - goals & month at a glance

Then it’s time to write down my goals. I completely failed mine for February so here’s hoping that March goes better! I think it’s just because February was such a short month. At least that’s what I’m going to blame it on. I like doing mini goals for the month so that I can refer back to them when I do my week and day to do lists.

The month at a glance is super important to me and I can’t believe I went for so many months without it. Definitely the reason why my year at a glance page was such a mess in my last bullet journal. This gives me plenty of space to write in everything from appointments to birthdays to events that I need to remember.

Bullet Journal - level 10 life

Level 10 Life is something I’ve done from the very beginning of using a bullet journal after seeing the idea on Pinterest. It’s where you split your life into 10 sections, make goals for each of them then track your progress on the chart by colouring in a section when you’ve done something that counts for that section.

It helps you see the balance in your life. I’ve found it interesting to see where I’m falling short in taking care of myself. Cough finances cough physical health cough.

Bullet Journal - habit & mood tracker

The habit tracker is another pivotal page for me. It’s been helping me take up new habits as well as tracking how often I do things like reach my step goal for the day and how many days I go without drinking water. Bad Diane. It’s been so useful for reminding me to do things as well like take my medication and that I’ve written in my line a day journal. I wouldn’t do without it.

The mood tracker is a new one that I’ve been using for the last couple of months. This is another idea I saw on Pinterest and thought it would be a good idea to help me know when I work best. I tend to go through phases of having no energy or feeling a bit down as well as other phases of being super motivated and getting loads done. So I wanted to see if there were any patterns that occurred. So far, findings have been interesting but I’ve only been doing it for 2 months so we’ll see.

Bullet Journal - Blog editorial calendar

Then finally it’s my blog editorial calendar. It’s been so much easier having everything in one place. Now that I only blog 3 times a week it’s also taken pressure off me to be producing so much content. As you can see, I had a bit of a special time trying to write out the days of the week that I post. Oops!

After putting down all the days that I post, I fill out my regular posts like my week and top picks then I fill in any posts that I already have the idea for. So far I have zip for March so fingers crossed that changes soon!

And that’s how I set up my bullet journal for the month.

Do you use a bullet journal? How do you set yours up for the month?

New Bullet Journal Set Up – 2017

It’s new bullet journal set up time! I’m excited and don’t care how sad it is. See my previous bullet journal posts here and here.

I know this isn’t a traditional bullet journal but it’s my way and I like it. I bought this Paperchase notebook back in August and have been itching to use it. I added a ribbon I got randomly at the restaurant Cabana for a bookmark. It’s nice to finally have a use for it as I was just about to get rid of it.

So here’s what I’ve done. Firstly and most importantly, is 2017 at a glance. I kinda messed up the formatting in my old bullet journal so the last couple of months of the year had no room for notes. Silly girl. So this one was definitely thought out beforehand.

New bullet journal set up 2

Next is goals for 2017. I wanted this page to be both pretty and functional. Unlike my old goal list, this one has a lot more room to tick off the smaller milestones on the way to my actual goals which I think will be a great motivator.

New bullet journal set up 3

After seeing birthday trackers on Pinterest boards I wanted one for my own journal. I’m loving the colour theme going on this page – so tropical!

New bullet journal set up 4

This bill tracker is a similar layout to one I saw on Pinterest. I thought it would be an improvement on my old one which had no place to actually track when they had been paid. Very silly.

New bullet journal set up 5

Honeymoon savings!

New bullet journal set up 6

This is pretty much taken straight from my old journal minus the things I’ve already done.

New bullet journal set up 7

I saw this again on Pinterest and I really liked it as a way of keeping track of things I don’t do as often like changing toothbrushes, washing the car etc. Hopefully it will help me keep on top of things better.

New bullet journal set up 8

A weight tracker of course. I totally messed up my old one as the measurements were completely out of whack but this one is perfect!

New bullet journal set up 9

January goals!

New bullet journal set up 10

Level 10 life. I found one of my old compass’s at my parent’s house so now I can finally draw perfect circles. It’s really the little things.

New bullet journal set up 11

And finally, here’s my January habit tracker. As much as I enjoyed colouring in my old one, this will be a lot less time consuming!

New bullet journal set up 12

So that’s my 2017 bullet journal. Have you got one?
