25 before 25

That’s right, a month late but I finally finished my 25 before 25 list. I’ve been wanting to make one for ages after seeing them on other people’s blogs. Plus, I can’t resist a good old list.

Not the best photo – but I decided to map out my goals in my sketchbook. These officially began on the day after my birthday (27th June) so I’ve already started.
1. Visit India – going in October
2. Make a gingerbread house
3. Get to 150 online sales on Random Quirks
4. Be in a happier job
5. Go to The Alchemist bar – in Manchester
6. Get clearer skin
7. Loose weight – be healthier
8. Read 50 books – on my 7th book
9. Paint 25 paintings
10. Dye my hair a random colour
11. Get 100% on both my lego Harry Potter games (geek!)
12. Make sushi
13. Swim regularly – got my membership and have been a couple of times
14. Visit the Manchester Museum
15. Make a rug
16. Go indoor sky diving
17. Watch all 8 Harry Potter films in one weekend
18. Make a scrapbook with all the bits and pieces of memories I’ve been collecting over the years
19. Make a fort in the living room and watch films inside all day
20. Make a 3 course meal all by myself
21. One day, take a photo every hour
22. Take both my businesses to new heights
23. Go to a football game
24. Fill my sketchbook
25. Make a recipe book and cook the recipes inside.
They range from easy to hard things to achieve and I can’t wait to conquer them all. I’ll set up a page on here tracking my progress just in case you’re interested.

Bring it on!
Have you ever made one of these birthday goal lists? Link me to yours if you have one!

Buttons and charms and chain (oh my)

Oh my indeed. While in Jordan last week, I not only added to my shop’s vintage collection but also to my handmade jewellery one as well. One of my cousins makes jewellery as well, so she took me downtown to a few of her suppliers.
It was a whole different atmosphere to the areas of Amman I’m normally used to and the area was full of jewellery supply shops. I loved it.

This was the upstairs of the first shop. It was like an Aladdin’s cave (or a hoard of lovelies as the bf suggested). I was in here for at least half an hour looking through all the little boxes.

Button shop – walls and walls of buttons. How cute is this cash register?

I came away with one or two things perhaps…

Look at all the charms! I’ve already made 5 necklaces and 3 pairs of earrings ready for my fair on Saturday. It was great to find a few more unusual charms that I don’t think I would have found in my usual charm search.

Buttons! These are all being turned into stud earrings.
I think my next post will be a food related one judging by the photos I have left from my trip.
Do you like unusual charms?

Let’s play catch-up

So the last you heard from me (apart from yesterday), I was about to move house. Well, we’re all moved in now and I have to say I love this house. Yes there are a few bits and pieces that need to be fixed but it’s ours and I’m loving all the space. If you’re interested, I’ll do a proper house tour when we’ve completely unpacked and got it looking all nice. For now, here’s what I’d been up to last week (Jordan posts coming soon!):

*Flowers from work for my birthday
*My Harry Potter inspired nails for my birthday (still got to narrow down all the photos!)
*Birthday present from Claire – lovingly stapled
*Sinister owls made by Claire
*Rose and my laptop
*The cats trying to come with me, ha ha
*Axl being a softy.
*New house – view from upstairs at the back of the house
*Me and the bf’s mahoosive bedroom
*The joys of moving – so much yoghurt!
*4th of July shoe on my desk calendar
*My nails for Jordan – spots and stripes
*My latest print – ice creams. My new desktop background.
*Upcoming prints.
Only two more days of being in Jordan. I can’t believe how fast the time went. Do I have to go back to work? I’m really excited for all the new products for my vintage shop. I’ll post about that tomorrow…
Any tips on getting myself back to the real world with as little pain as possible? 😛

End of an era

So today is the day. Moving day. I can’t believe I’ve lived in this house for almost 3 years. That is something of a record for me. Apart from 1 family home in Nottinghamshire, this is the longest I’ve lived in one house. That will make it number 2 out of 20. Yes that’s right, I’ve lived in 20 houses in 24 years.

Source unknown – please let me know if this is your photo
It’s the end of an era. Goodbye teeny room (especially with all my stuff in it!). It is a bit sad and I will miss my friends and the cats but it’s time to move on. I’m going to be living with my bf of 3 years for the first time, along with his current housemate and our equally nerdy friend Claire and her little brother Ant. This is going to be the nerdiest house ever and I can’t wait.
Me “Ooh I’ll get to put up my world map and my Marauders Map!
Bf: “I can put up my Middle Earth maps”
As well as living with some awesome people, I get to live in an awesome house. It’s like a tardis – it just keeps going back. I love it. Plus, me and the bf’s room is MASSIVE and we’ll have a bed that you can get in on both sides! (it’s the little things).
So the main reason for this post is to say I’m still here, I just won’t be posting as much over the next week as we won’t have internet. Plus I’ll be busy doing my favourite part of moving: Finding places for all of my stuff.
Ta-ta for now, I’ll be back (don’t make me do the Arnie voice)
P.S I am amazed that all my shoes fit in one box….well, all the shoes I keep in this house anyway, ha ha.

So far, this is the oldest I’ve ever been

Good morning all. Another year has gone and today is my birthday. The big 24. The mid twenties, it’s all down hill from here (yeah right), 6 years until the big 3-0 and all that jazz.
Now that I’m a responsible adult I’ve taken the day off work to do something sensible and grown up.
The Harry Potter Studio Tour!
I’m such a child.

I’ve been a massive fan of HP since I read the first book at age 11 (you know now how long ago that was) so it was fitting to go to the studio tour for my birthday.
My bf, Claire, Emma (bf’s sis) and myself will be on a train in a few short hours playing flux and HP russian roulette (I’ve got Bertie Botts!). I can’t wait. I’m taking my good camera and will be taking LOADS of photos. I’ve painted my nails in preparation and will be wearing my Harry Potter t-shirt that I painted myself (pics to come tomorrow). Excite!
Since I’m now 24 (25 next, eek), I’ve decided to make a 25 before 25 list. I do love my lists. I would show it to you but it’s only 11 before 25 at the moment. Any suggestions?
I’d better go get ready anyway, lots to do. It’s actually sunny here – it’s never rained on my birthday so hopefully this won’t be the year even though it’s been looking that way! Hope you all have a great day, I know I will 🙂
