Resolution roundup: January

So how did everyone’s January go? I’d like to actually keep track of my resolutions this year so I’m going to keep track of them here. I originally posted them here.

1. Take care of my face.
I think I’ve done really well so far. I haven’t missed a day in my skincare routine which makes this the longest time I’ve actually followed one without missing a day. Even after a night out. Though there hasn’t really been a difference on my face, I’m going to keep at it. Maybe I’ll adapt my routine a bit. Fingers crossed for next month.

2. Take my shops Random Quirks and Toast Rack to new heights.
Well I’ve been working hard on both shops and have been getting sales. I took part in a craft and vintage fair and have bought all my new supplies for S/S 12. The biggest development is the Random Quirks website which is being created by my big brother. It is looking great so far and I can’t wait to see what it looks like when he’s finished. More big plans for February are on the way!

3. Save money.
I have been successfully putting money aside in both my savings and an extra account for when I eventually move in with the bf. See, 2 accounts for my long term and short term goals – aren’t I grown up?

4. Keep blogging regularly
I reckon I’ve been doing pretty well. 16 blog posts in January is not bad at all. And I managed 6 posts on my other blog for my shops. Carrying on!

5. See more, do more. Take photos! Try new and different things.
Have been trying to do things on my to do list and documenting them with pics. Managed to go to the science museum, see my mum and brother, go on an impromptu night out, cinema, buffets, and generally chill with the bf and friends. I have more plans for February including a surprise for you. On Monday I may be blogging from a random place in the world. But where? This was very last minute as I found out I have 6 days holiday. How to use them? You’ll see…

Right, that’s a lot of text. Here’s a pic of the shoe on my shoe calendar today.

How costumey! Reminds me of a masquerade ball or something like that.
So, how have your resolutions been going?

My week 6

So apart from working, I had quite a lazy week. And a lovely weekend with the bf.

These pantomime stamps were on a package I received this week. Made me giggle.

Vintage Gossip Girl, season 2. This was pretty much how I spent my evenings.

Received my first graze box after getting a free one with a code in Glamour magazine. Scarfed it all. Delicious. Decided to keep up the subscription for a bit as it would be nice to have stuff to nibble on for work.

My nails this week. In typical Nomad fashion, I didn’t mean for it to come out like this. It was supposed to be a few simple polka dots but ended up as a dotty dalmatian-esque affair. Meh, I like it. Some of the best things are accidents.

My main post for the Manchester science museum is here but here’s just an extra pic. Pretty pattern 🙂

Why hello there it’s me! An outtake of my guest blog post which is now on Sparkly Flamingo’s blog here.

How was your week? Freezing? If not, then consider yourself lucky 🙂

A day out at the museum

Today me and the bf went to the Manchester Science Museum and then had a late pub lunch. Though it was absolutely freezing, I had been looking forward to this for a while. I love having weekends now.

This was in the main foyer. You take your photo on the machines below and your picture appears up here.

I was in my element in the textile hall. Was telling the bf all the little facts I remembered from uni. Some people really don’t understand how sciencey textiles is. How cool are these shoes?

IMG_0639

Underground Manchester. Really felt like I was in Harry Potter (such a nerd) and makes me really want to go to the WB Studio Tour (I so am!). Learned about sewers and gas – so romantic. Go on, ask me anything, ha ha!

IMG_0640

We then went to the poshest pub I’ve ever been to, The Ox, which is right across the road from the museum. The bf spotted a sign that said 2 courses for a tenner, so we thought why not. This was my starter (very photo worthy), goats cheese and red peppers. Delicious!

IMG_0642

My main course was salmon and teriyaki noodles, also delicious and photo worthy.

IMG_0643

And introducing the poshest fish and chips I have ever seen (those wedges were awesome!).

I also took photos of my outfit today but those are in a guest post that I’ve done for Sparkly Flamingo. Not sure when it will go up, but I will let you know. I’m excited, I’ve never done a guest post before.

My week 5

I don’t care that it’s way past noon and I’m still in my pyjamas. It’s sunday and they have pandas on, so it’s ok.

Kinky boots. This picture on my shoe desk calendar made me smile.

A couple of yums from the week. Claire (my bfs house mate) made us some awesome mac and cheese with breadcrumbs, cut up sausages, mustard and lea and perrins among other things. It was amazing. And I got to take left overs to work the next day. Score! I also went to Yo Sushi with my mum and brother. My brother had not been before so that was funny. He’s very sarcastic so his reactions to stuff made me laugh.

Decided to be a bit weird and wear my butterfly necklace that I got from Primark a couple of years ago and have only worn once. Wore it with my sheer black shirt with leather detail, skinny jeans, black wedges and my grey half sleeve batwing cardie. Still not 100% sure if it worked but ah well. Fashion is for fun and I had fun wearing this outfit.

Housemates cats, Rose and Axl. Look how cute they are!

Saw this guy in the window of House of Fraser in Meadowhall. He was actually cycling! Love it.

Me and the bf getting ready for our impromptu night out last night. Luckily I had bought this dress earlier at Meadowhall. Was £85 at monsoon but I got it for £25.50 in the sale! And how cool is the bfs t-shirt. We saw it online and had to get it. It’s Darth Vader, Sauron and Voldemort having drinks at a bar. Awesome.

My week 4

So this was an interesting week, more so towards the end. Check it out.

IMG_0516

Axl gets tired surfing the web all day.

IMG_0537

A 1930s pump on my 365 days of shoes desk calendar. Love this (thank you to my lovely bf for getting it for me).

IMG_0538

Axl being Axl. He’s weird. Nuff said.

IMG_0541

Went to the red hot world buffet on deansgate on friday night with the friend and bf. Was nomtastic. Just check out my desserts! Love the waffle on a stick.

IMG_0542

Yes, I am going out with what appears to be a child. The bf’s selections. All the delicious things and he went mental about the bubblegum ice cream. Didn’t believe me when I said there are loads of other places he could get it, lol.

IMG_0543

Finally saw the new Sherlock Holmes film. Made me lol. I recommend it.

IMG_0545

Saturday night spent making jewellery for my fair that was today. Like the charms?

IMG_0548

Part of my stall at the fair. Was a good day though extremely cold!

Back to work tomorrow 🙁
