Mischief Managed

A fair bit overdue but I can finally find the time to show you a few photos from my birthday day out to Harry Potter studios. Only a couple of small spoilers here so if you want to see the entire thing then take a look at the flickr album here.

Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans…Roulette. Always a good way to keep yourself amused on the train.

How tiny are the trio’s hands? Mine were the same as Rupert Grints. The other two were way smaller!

Jumping FAIL!

Flagging down the Knight Bus with lipstick (well whats a girl to do when she hasn’t got her wand on her?)

Have you been to or planning on visiting the studios?

Lets go on an adventure

This year one of my dreams is coming true. My parents just announced that for our family holiday this year, we’re going to New Delhi, India!

I’m so excited! I’ve always wanted to go to India. It’s just going to be me and my parents as my brother doesn’t want to go which is a shame but he’s not a big travel fan so no point making him grumpy. Since we both went away to uni years ago, we don’t always travel all four of us together anyway. I’m still excited!
One thing I’m looking forward to is just the sights and sounds of the city. I love how colourful India is with all rainbow of sari’s, spice markets, transport etc. I’m not surprised why I studied it twice while I did art at college.

I can’t wait to start researching all the things to do and places to see. Travel has always been a major part of my life and I love going places I’ve never been. I’m definitely taking my good camera with me. That’s going to be an amazing part, just taking photos and absorbing the atmosphere (I hear New Delhi is mental for being busy, especially on the roads). I’ve never been a lay on the beach getting a tan kind of girl.
Something I’ve already learned is that New Delhi has a metro. I had no idea. That’ll be great since we’re not renting a car as far as I know. I’m glad we’re not because I think you get to see more of a place when you’re not just driving around. This happened when I went to New York with my family (yes, I know we drove around in NYC! Mental). I saw so much more of the city when I went with uni because we were walking and taking taxis.

Something I’ve always wanted to do and hope to do while we’re there is ride an elephant. I’ve rode a camel and a donkey, but never a horse so I may as well carry on the tradition of riding unusual animals ha ha. I also want to go to the markets. I love markets and souks so it would be a dream come true to go to a real Indian one.

Being a typical fashion enthusiast, I am already looking forward to picking out what clothes to take with me. Maxi skirts and dresses a go go I think. I really shouldn’t be planning already since we’re not going until October.
I think we’re also planning on travelling down to the Taj Mahal because how can you not? I doubt I’d go to India again so I can’t leave without seeing it. Plus I need to do the cliche tourist pose where you hold the top of the palace with your hand, ha ha.
If any of you have been lucky to have been before or know someone who has – I would really appreciate any tips or cool things to do or see in New Delhi.
Where have you always dreamed of visiting?

We’re going to the zoo zoo zoo

So, I’ll give you a quick warning, this post is photo heavy. A pick of the best photos from my trip to Chester zoo last Sunday:

DSC04314 - Version 2

Got a couple of stares for taking this photo but I thought it was cute.

There is a butterfly house where you can actually walk among hundreds of butterflies. Very difficult to get photos but it was definitely worth it.

This guy was playing peek-a-boo with us, then gave us a bit of a staring competition while he was chewing on something.

Doesn’t he look like he’s scowling? Ha ha, serious model poser giraffe.

Meet Whitney, she was very kind to sit and let me take her picture while the rest of her friends went mental around her.

Lemur’s hugging! So cute!

I didn’t realise this guy’s eyes could move around independently of each other. Kinda freaky but very cool when I took a shot of him face on.

This was worth the clicking for 6 or 7 mins trying to get the right shot of this bird chucking grapes in the air and catching them in his mouth.

I love the colours of this snake!

Isn’t this the cutest ball of fluff you’ve ever seen?

This is the tiniest monkey ever!

I had a great day and this was the first time I’d been to a zoo since I was a child. Hope you like the photos.
Have you ever been to the zoo?

American Memories

A look back of my week in Florida in photos.

I am definitely going to miss this view. Love the colour of the sky.

My parents learned the hard way to never order a large of anything in the USA. Hard to tell but these cocktails were so massive I burst out laughing when they arrived. You could probably have fit your face in them!

Outlet malls – where ugly shoes go to die. I used to hate shopping as a kid because these were the kind of places my parent’s took me. I thought all shopping was like this until I was about 12/13 and discovered the high street. *Shudders*

Got to love American advertising. Straight the point. They also rent trucks too apparently.

This will be one of my proud achievements of 2012. For the first time, I actually finished a stack of pancakes from IHOP. Felt like I was going to die afterwards, but so proud.

One of my holiday outfits. New Look dress and crochet waistcoat. Wore this to the Florida mall and btw that is my cardigan tied around my bag strap, not a massive scarf. Leaves both my arms free to browse the rails 🙂
So my week of sunshine has come to a close and I am now back in Manchester shivering while covered by my slanket (purple and the best thing ever). Back to work tomorrow.
How was your week?

I’ve arrived in sunny…

Orlando Florida!
It turned out that I had 6 days holiday to use before the end of this month and my family were going anyway so they got me a plane ticket! My parents own a holiday home out here that they rent out and they come every so often to make sure it’s still standing ha ha. I went from stepping out in the snow yesterday (in peep toe flats) to stepping out into the sunshine.
So I arrived yesterday afternoon after a very enjoyable 9 hour 10 min flight. Both seats next to me were empty (score!), the food was good and I watched 4 films. Bridesmaids (not what I expected, but funny), Friends with benefits (enjoyable), In time (awesome), and Bad Teacher (not as bad as I heard it was). And yes, that is three Justin Timberlake films. Didn’t even mean to.
So my first meal in the U.S of A was in true american style, a big ass steak. Now in the picture, it may look small but I can assure you, it was big and can be only described as a beast! Though it took me awhile to devour, I’m proud to say I did it.

I’m here until Sunday so I’m off to soak up a bit of sun outside. Already went in the pool this morning. It’s a hard life!
