Top Picks #49

  1. Bikini, $39.99 & $49.99 – Modcloth*

Modcloth have so much nice swimwear in at the moment. I cannot resist this bikini and I don’t even wear bikinis! The dinosaur skeleton print is awesome and I really like the colour too. I’ve never been a fan of the vintage style high waist bikini bottoms but this one makes me reconsider a little bit.

2. Sandals, £25.99 – New Look

These sandals are so pretty! I love the simplicity of them though I’m not sure if I would enjoy the tan lines!

3. T-shirt, £16.97 – Carolina Magnolia Designs @ Etsy

I felt like I’d hit the jackpot when I stumbled across this Etsy store the other week. So many subtle Disney t-shirts. This one is by far my favourite. Any idea where the saying is from? Unfortunately they only ship within the US but with my parents travelling there all the time, I’m sure I could find a way.

4. Earrings, £8 – Jazzy Menagerie @ Etsy

I’m in love with these earrings! Little paper airplanes!

5. Dress, £75 – Emily and Fin

It’s the stripy dress of dreams! My stripes addiction continues. This dress is just perfect in every way. It even has freaking pockets! Pockets are like gold dust in the womenswear industry.

6. Washi tape dispenser, £25.33 – Mig Ma Ideas @ Etsy

I may have squeaked a little when I saw this. How amazing is this washi tape dispenser? For a washi tape addict such as myself, it’s just perfect. May have to request this for my birthday. And bonus, it would stop Luna from stealing my washi tapes. She loves them just as much as I do but for very different reasons!

7. Brooch, £8.08 – Rock Cakes @ Etsy

I’ve always wanted a little hello brooch and this one is perfect! It comes in different colours and I want them all.

8. Top, £39.50 – Sugarhill Boutique

This top is so kitsch, I love it. It would be perfect with skinny jeans or tucked into a midi skirt.

9. Camera Strap, £33.94 – Janie Lane Studio @ Etsy

I’ve been thinking about getting a pretty camera strap for a while and this one fits the bill. And it has pockets!

10. Coin purse, £8 – Accessorize*

I’m not going to be carrying round my entire purse on our honeymoon so this coin purse is perfect for the essentials.

Top Picks #48

  1. Embroidery Hoop, £24 – Stitching Business @ Etsy

I really like the design of this embroidery hoop. I wish they had a few more options with different designs and colours of houses though.

2.  Sandals, £29 – Accessorize*

I really like the star cut out detail on these sandals. They look like they’d be perfect for a city break paired with skinny jeans and a laid back tee.

3. Sundress, £40 – Joanie

And they’ve done it again. Joanie have brought out another sundress I am in love with. So much love for this one.

4. Notebook, £27.50 – Paperchase

I know it’s awhile until I need another bullet journal but when that time does come, this one is definitely a contender. It has grid pages which I think will make doing layouts a whole lot simpler. It’s leather too, which gives it a luxury feel.

5. Swimsuit, £28 – Joanie

Joanie has a swimwear range! I don’t really see the straps being particularly supportive on this particular suit but I love the print.

6. Brooch, £60 – Tatty Devine

This brooch is awesome! So cute. Apparently it has a view finder that you can really look through – how cool is that?

7. Dress, $584.99 – Modcloth*

I’m not usually one for strapless dresses but the print on this one is way too eye-catching to ignore. It makes me want to go somewhere sunny and hot like Cuba. I didn’t realise it was by Anna Sui straight away but after I did, I wasn’t surprised that I picked it. I used to idolize Anna Sui as a teenager. She made me want to be a fashion designer.

8. Earrings, £22 – From My Bear Hands @Etsy

These earrings are so sparkly and lovely! I can’t wait until my ears are healed and I can start wearing other earrings.

9. Shoes, £35 – Dorothy Perkins*

I’m in love with these shoes. It’s a shame I don’t wear heals though. I wish they did them in a flat sandal design. They do have them in a flat mule design but I don’t really like mules. For a klutz like me they’re recipe for disaster!

10. Dress, £34 – Minimum Mouse

This print is awesome! Unfortunately it’s out of stock at the moment but here’s hoping it comes back soon.

Top Picks #41

  1. Top, £34 – Sugarhill Boutique

Another take on the Breton top style that I love so much. The embroidery detail is so cute and I would seriously consider getting this in both the red seen here and the navy it also comes in.

  1. Binder, £8 – Paperchase

I don’t think I’ve ever put a binder on one of my top picks before but isn’t it pretty? Hopefully an addition for my soon to be pretty office.

  1. Skirt, £27 – PicknMix @ Etsy

The pattern on this skirt is amazing – so pretty. And yes I’m still definitely well and truly into celestial themed products apparently!

  1. Mug, £12 – Urban Outfitters

This cactus mug is so fun! Love it.

  1. Shirt, £30 – Topshop*

Simply because OMG pandas. End of.

  1. Watch, £107 – ASOS*

As much as I love my current Kate Spade watch, this one is seriously pretty and it’s black which I’m really into at the moment. I also love that the rose gold features would also go rather nicely with my engagement ring.

  1. Vinyl Sticker, £2.88 – Sleepy Mountain @Etsy

Topher and I both love The Office so this sticker needs to be in our home somewhere. Now if only this shop had a Stanley waffle day sticker – then we would be all set!

  1. Cushion, £3.99 – H&M

This would look awesome in my office once it’s decorated next month. (Can’t wait!)

  1. Shirt, $59.99 – Modcloth*

The detailing on this shirt is so damn cute and happy it makes me smile. It just screams spring and reminds me that there are warmer days to come!

  1. Pinafore, £15 – ASOS*

I’ve been getting to thinking about a capsule wardrobe recently and when I came across this Pinafore, I thought it would be the perfect addition. Imagine the sheer amount of items it would go with and how you can dress it up or down. Plus, how great is the price?

Begin.Create

So after a few weeks of hinting, I’m finally ready to show you my new project that I’ve been working on. Begin.Create is my new business that will be officially launching in January 2017. The social media channels are launching today and the blog is launching next Monday. Though it hasn’t had a name or a purpose in my mind, Begin.Create has been a long time coming. In January, it will be 9 years since I first decided that I wanted to work for myself and I’ve spent all those years deciding what that work would exactly be. I guess that’s what your twenties are for, right?

I wouldn’t take those 9 years back for anything though. They are what shaped me in life, in business and what gave me the experience to be able to have the skills for Begin.Create. So what is Begin.Create? In a nutshell it’s social media training and strategy building for creative small business owners who are starting from square one. It’s for people who have an awesome product but have no idea on how to get it out there. Essentially, I’m giving my clients all the knowledge I have in promoting your product so you don’t have to take 9 years to figure it out like I did!

Begin.Create 2

It’s funny how much you can take what you know for granted. I didn’t realise how many people out there struggle with social media and blogging and find it intimidating. Making the decision to be self employed at the beginning of this year was the best thing I could have done for myself. It hasn’t been the easiest of years, particularly financially, but it gave me the time to finally realise what I’m good at. Teaching. I’ve pretty much lived online the last decade and it’s there where the majority of my knowledge has come from. But even outside that, I’ve done a lot.

I got my bachelors and masters degrees in marketing, I’ve worked in retail, merchandising, buying and logistics, as well as having my own real life shop in Afflecks Palace and online Etsy shops. And while all that was going on I’ve blogged. Though I’ve only been blogging on here for about 5 years, I actually started blogging in 2008 (2007 if you count LiveJournal) for my first Etsy shop. Of course I can’t forget this year where I went self employed and became a virtual assistant for creative businesses. It’s crazy to think how much I’ve packed in but it was all necessary – I had to find the jobs that weren’t quite right for me first and that’s ok.

I used to think I was such a disappointment. A jinx. A failure. And it didn’t help that a couple of those jobs at the beginning of my journey practically told me so. That’s not really something you can easily get over. But I can finally say that I am confident in myself and my skills. I’m damn good at what I do and what I do is truly valuable to people. If you’ve launched a business and your product isn’t selling, it can be devastating. If social media scares you and you feel out of touch, it can feel really intimidating. And if you’re an introvert and all you want is the confidence to sell your product without feeling awkward, then I’m here for you. I’ve been there and I don’t want anyone to feel like I used to feel. All I want to do is help people to escape their dull jobs and create a business that gives them joy and makes them actually look forward to Monday mornings.

So that’s what I’m going to be doing and I just can’t wait. The website is up. I made it myself using Squarespace which was a lot easier than I expected and I’d love to know what you think! Begin.Create is also on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Come join me and spread the word. Everyone has or knows someone who has an amazing product that needs to be shared with the world.

I’m ready to begin. The question is, are you?

Top Picks #39

1. Jumper, £35 – Oasis*

One of these days I’ll actually go out and buy one of these stripy jumpers I keep putting on these lists. I like that this one has an extra bit of colour detail to it.

2. Manchester Print, £15.95 – Fox & Velvet @ Notonthehighstreet.com

You can tell I’m shopping for my landing gallery wall now can’t you? Well we can’t have a gallery wall and have nothing dedicated to Manchester! I love this print and I already have the NYC print from this same shop.

3. Jumper, £39 – Joy

I literally only picked this top because I love George Takei. Oh My…..

4. Coffee Print, £9.50 – The Motivated Type @ Notonthehighstreet.com

This print really makes me think of Topher. It’s totally him. Though the same can be said for me as well. I just don’t need 3 cups of the stuff before 9am.

5. Dress, £31 – Yumi

I love me some polka dots! The fact that this dress is both a midi and has a waist tie make it a winner in my book. I’d style it with a leather jacket and Chelsea boots for a monochrome look.

6. Candles, £8 – Urban Outfitters*

I wouldn’t consider myself a candle person but aren’t these adorable? Plus it would be cool to have some plants around the house that won’t die (unless you count slowly melting away).

7. Necklace, £20 – Kate Rowland @ Etsy

This necklace is everything. The sheer amount of detail that has gone into it is incredible. I would be tempted to wear this all year round!

8. Pyjamas, £34 – Boux Avenue

These pjs are too cute. A girl can never have too many sets – especially seasonal ones, right? Plus Boux Avenue has a deal of buying one set and getting another completely free.

9. Top, £39 – Sugarhill Boutique

I am in love with the back of this top. It’s the kind of top where I would want to wear my hair up and just walk backwards all day.

10. Shoes, $89.99 – Modcloth

These shoes are ridiculous! I love them. I want to buy them with all my imaginary money and wear them to all the Disney parks in the world.
