Los Angeles Honeymoon Travel Diary

So on Day 7 of our honeymoon, we finally arrived in Los Angeles

Since our schedule was so tight and we prioritised visiting theme parks for this portion of the trip, we basically had a single afternoon to see as much as we could in LA. So after lunch we hit the ground running.

Hollywood Sign

First up was the Hollywood sign. To be fair we could have just left it at this picture but I had scouted out a viewing point where I could park and get out of the car on Google Maps so we headed on up the super windy hills.

Los Angeles - Hollywood street

Hello Hollywood. Topher was a bit disappointed as he thought it would be bigger but I had to remind him that it is big, we just weren’t particularly close!

Tourist selfies of course!

Griffith Park

Then it was back in the car to drive to Griffith Park. It was huge. I wanted to find the carousel where Walt Disney used to take his daughters and where he got the idea for Disneyland. It was touch and go but we found it!

Griffith Observatory

Back in the car for our final driven stop which was Griffith Observatory. As far as I remember (not a lot!) I never went here with my family so this was a first for the both of us. It’s just so iconic! There is paid parking available but you can actually park at the bottom of the hill and hike up for free.

We were tired but it was definitely worth it. I think it took us about 20 mins. Warning – it is steep!

By this time it was time to check into our hotel, The Moment. I was really happy with our stay here and I definitely recommend it. The Sunset Blvd location is ideal and the hotel is clean and modern.

Walk of Fame and Grauman’s Chinese Theater

After getting all checked in, we headed straight out and walked about 15/20 minutes to Hollywood Blvd so we could see the Walk of Fame and Grauman’s Chinese Theater. It was super busy but we had a good time trying to spot names we knew on the street.

Unfortunately they seemed to be setting up for an event at the Theater so you couldn’t walk right up to it and look at the hand prints but we saw a few cool ones from the edge.

Absolutely shattered we headed back to the hotel as we would need our rest for Universal Studios in the morning!

My Week #64 – Another Adventure

*Two peas in a pod *Hello October

*Tampopo meal *My presents from Topher

So last week I started thinking about mini holidays for Topher and I to go on next year.

We’ve already got Jordan on the agenda but for way longer than 3 days! Plus Emma will be coming for her first visit so really looking forward to that. After writing about European destinations I had in mind, they were my first port of call.

My only obligations were that I have to stick to school holidays and we have to fly with EasyJet. I’ve been saving nectar points for years and found out that after the 13th October 2017, you won’t be able to spend them with EasyJet anymore. Worry not as you can still use them with other flight brands like Expedia but I had my eyes on EasyJet so I started looking.

Now I can only blame my friends Claire and Steve (and my own addiction) for what comes next but at the time, they were on a break in Disneyland Paris. So after finding holidays to my chosen destinations were more costly than I thought they were, I just thought out of curiosity to just see how much a trip to DLP would cost. And guys, it was a whole lot cheaper than I thought it would be. In fact, it was only a little bit more expensive than the other destinations I looked at. So…

Topher and I are going to Disneyland Paris in February 2018!

I am beyond excited. As much as I wanted to go somewhere new in 2018, I don’t care. This trip is actually affordable for us and we get to stay onsite for the very first time in both our lives. My Disney bug has truly reawakened and I can’t help but start researching the trip already. That and fall headfirst into Disney hauls on Youtube – don’t fall down that black hole unless you have a serious amount of time on your hands! So yeah, all pretty exciting!

In other news, not much else going on

Topher and I went to a blog dinner at Tampopo which I’ll be blogging about next month (my content calendar is chock full of honeymoon stuff!) and I now want Pad Thai. Other adventures included me getting a free half hour session at the gym with a trainer and not being able to walk for two days after. Legitimately unfit over here! Luckily when I go to the gym by myself I seem to be doing a good enough job that I have that slight sore feeling the next day so here’s hoping I can keep it up because I already got a load of gym gear.

In terms of work my schedule is pretty open so if anyone needs a VA or social media training, take a look at my hire me page and see how I can help you and your blog and/or business.

And finally, I have started collecting Tsum tsums!

Thanks to my lovely husband who got me my first two – Pascal and Carl. Topher actually told me that he bought some Magic Cards for himself and to keep an eye out for them in the post as I work from home. So when they arrived, I called him like he wanted and as it turns out, they weren’t magic cards but presents for me! The two tsum tsums and a plush of the owl from Sleeping Beauty that I picked up and put back in the Times Square Disney Store.  This was yesterday and I was having a crappy day so it was so nice and cheered me up. I knew I kept him around for a reason!

Also, finally gone through our wedding photos and just had to share this graphic combo I made of some silly photos of me taken by our photographer. Definitely not a normal bride but it made us laugh!

Back from Honeymoon

I’m back and I’m jet lagged! Topher and I had the most amazing time on our honeymoon and I can’t believe how much we managed to squeeze into a two week period. So much so that Topher says I killed him. I might have killed myself as well. I’m so tired but it was totally worth it.

I managed to vlog almost the entire time so I now have what it probably a couple of hours of film to edit through. And I don’t even know how many photos I took. It’s going to be a busy couple of weeks! I’ve decided to split down the next few blog posts into location and food separately as it would be way too much for the individual posts otherwise. So I’ll be starting with next week and talking about what I did in New York, followed by what I ate in New York (it was a lot!).

In other news, we got back on Wednesday morning and since then I’ve been trying to sort things out and get back into a routine. Topher went straight back to school and I started doing client work again too. I’ve also been trying to tidy up the house and get some new routines set up for myself. One of the “souvenirs” I got in New York was a new bullet journal so I’ve almost got that all set up and I love it.

In health news, I had an amazing time trying all the different foods but I’m looking forward to eating some more healthier things in future. I went to Slimming World yesterday and found I had put on 6lbs in the two weeks I was away. I’m impressed it wasn’t more and I think it would have been if I had not been walking and if I had been drinking alcohol as well as all the food. So it could have been a whole lot worse. I’m also planning on joining a gym soon so if anyone has any tips, hit me up – I’m a complete newbie.

Primark Haul – Totally Addicted to Stripes

As promised, here’s a look at my Primark haul as well as a couple of other purchases from New Look and H&M.

I’m properly thinking ahead now to my honeymoon and what I’ll be needing on the trip. After all, by the time it comes around in September, all the summery stuff would have disappeared from the high street.

While I was taking these photos in my office, Luna acted as my “assistant” so please excuse her need to sniff everything in a few of the shots! How can I say no to this face? Such a curious one!

Primark

So beginning with my stripes addiction head on, I had to laugh at myself when I picked up not one, not two but five stopped tops. I think I might have a problem! I definitely won’t be wearing all of these on the honeymoon but I was also thinking about my capsule wardrobe for when I get to my target weight. These will go with quite a few things already in my wardrobe and also with the pinafore I bought below.

Looks like I found my new uniform! Plus they were only £3 each so it was an easy decision. They’re all short sleeve apart from the red one which is long sleeves so that one is more for autumn/winter.

Primark Haul - striped shirt addiction

Now moving on to something a little less stripy, I immediately fell in love with this lightweight watermelon print shirt. The fabric is really soft and they also had it in an anchor print which I would have bought if they had had it in my size (boo!). This would be perfect for San Francisco which I have heard can get a bit on the chilly side.

Yes I do realise I picked up yet another stripy top (the checkout girl must have thought I was mad!) but isn’t it pretty? It was refreshing to see a top like this that wasn’t elasticated at the bottom. Thank you Primark! And I love the detail on the sleeves – I like that I can choose to either wear as is or push them down my shoulders to wear in a bardot style.

Primark Haul - peasant top

I finally settled on a day bag for the honeymoon. After going on and on about getting a small rucksack, I completely changed my mind and went for a small cross body style instead. Mainly for the reason that I feel I’ll be less likely to be pick pocketed this way. Such a worrier! Better safe than sorry though.

I love compartments so this does the job nicely! And it’s big enough to fit my purse but not big enough to be feeling like I’m lugging the world around with me. We will be doing a lot of walking after all.

So next on the agenda that I was missing out of my current summer wardrobe was footwear. I prefer sandals as I can walk miles and miles in them. This black pair below I actually got after I bought some tan ones in New Look further down but I had to get these as they were practically the same but for almost half the cost. So now I have a pair of black sandals and also a pair of tan. Covering all bases!

New Look

As I mentioned above, I got these tan sandals first. They fit in perfectly with the rest of my summer wardrobe and go with practically everything. Plus, they seem super comfy so far.

Primark Haul - New Look Sandals

I have sunglasses again! These were as close as I could find to my old pair that broke last summer and it’s great to have them back.

H&M

You may or may not remember this dungaree dress* from a certain top picks post I did a while back. I just haven’t been able to get it out of my head since then. It’s the perfect piece for my capsule wardrobe. It’s plain so it can be paired with anything and I could wear it all year round. Short sleeve tops and leggings in the summer, tights and long sleeve shirts in the winter. Cost per wear would be amazing!

Primark Haul - H&M dress

At the time of putting it on my wish list, I didn’t realise it was part of H&M’s Conscious range. It’s great to know that a piece I plan on wearing a lot is environmentally friendly.

Primark Haul - H&M dress closeup

Just a word of warning though, sizing in this dress runs small! After dithering for awhile on whether to get a 10 (my final dress size when I finish) or a 12 (what I am now), I’m so glad I went with a 12. When it arrived in the post, I tried it on and was surprised to find that I could only just get it on! It fits but I wouldn’t dare eat in it. No food babies allowed here. So it’s a relief to know that by the time I lose another stone it will fit better.

Primark Haul - H&M concious range

So that’s my haul. All sorted now I think!

Have you bought anything nice recently?

Top Picks #46

  1. Dress, £55 – Yumi*

I love this print and the shape of the dress. It looks perfect for a summer holiday somewhere sunny in Europe. Italy, Portugal, somewhere like that.

2. Bag, £55 – Vendula London

Embarrassingly when I stumbled across this bag, I let out a little squeak! I love anything with hot air balloons so this is absolutely perfect. Shame about the price though. I don’t see myself spending that much on a small bag.

3. Sandals, £10 – ASOS*

Since it’s April, you know what time it is; sandal season on the high street. I realised I’d better do my honeymoon wardrobe shopping soon. Because by the time I start thinking about it in August there will probably be winter coats in stock and not a pair of sandals in sight! These are a bargain and because they’re jelly sandals, I’m hoping they will be comfortable.

4. Bag, £18 – Topshop*

I love this bag! It’s so sweet.

5. Earrings, £6 – Accessorize

Now that I’ve got my ears pierced again I’m counting down the weeks until they’re healed and I can wear whatever I want in them. I love the simple design of these.

6. Plate, £22.50 – Jim Bob Art @ Etsy

I already own a plate from this shop and I love it. And after spotting this one I need it in my life. It’s perfectly me. I love pancakes and I’m a Hufflepuff so the badger is a perfect fit. Need!

7. Blouse, £25 – Joanie

Another great print! I haven’t bought many blouses since leaving office life but I’d definitely be tempted with this one. It would look great with skinny jeans!

8. Ear cuff set, £5.99 – New Look

I’ve been wanting to try out ear cuffs for awhile now and this one fits the bill.

9. Sunglasses, £8 – ASOS*

Since my favourite sunglasses broke, I’ve been on the hunt for a replacement. These ASOS set are perfect!

10. Sundress, £55 – Sugarhill Boutique

The length of this dress is perfect! And the print is so summery. Looks like I’m gravitating towards sundresses at the moment. Now if only the weather would match what’s in the shops!

What’s on your lust list this week?
