Wanderlust: European Cities I Want to Visit

Current mood: Wanderlust

Now that things are starting to get a bit steadier around here, I’ve found myself dreaming of doing things I’ve always wanted to do but never really had the money for. Travelling. I’m not talking about backpacking around Thailand or spending a couple of months in Australia or South America but about some short and sweet European destinations.

Travel is in my blood. Until just after I started this blog I had hit 32 countries. But since 2012 I haven’t been anywhere new. That’s mainly due to not having money and when Topher and I did have money we would always go to Disney World, Florida. I freaking love Disney but my feet are getting itchy. I want to start seeing the world again.

We’re making a good start with our honeymoon. It may not be a new country but it’s one new city to me (San Francisco) and three new cities for Topher. When we met, Topher didn’t consider himself into travel at all but now he’s really come round to the idea…as long as we can still go to Disney!

We decided that 2018 would be the year that we try to do some small European trips to new places and I’m already dreaming of where I want to go. Here are 4 at the top of my list.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Wanderlust - Dubrovnik, Croatia

Nothing to do with Game of Thrones I’m afraid – I want to visit Dubrovnik to see the sites! It looks gorgeous and I like the idea of going to a sunny city that’s filled with old and new.

Reykjavik, Iceland

Wanderlust - Reykjavik, Iceland

I know so many people who have gone here and I really want to go too. The chance to see the Northern Lights, the Blue Lagoon and all the amazing street art I keep seeing Instagrammed in the city itself.

Even though I prefer warmer holidays, I would definitely find a massive jacket and go to Iceland. Though I don’t think this will be one of our 2018 destinations due to the price!

Tallinn, Estonia

Wanderlust - Tallinn, Estonia

Estonia generally looks beautiful and the capital city of Tallinn is no exception. It’s on the coast and all packed in so everything appears easy to get to. Though looking at the other regions of Estonia, it looks pretty tempting to rent a car and see them all!

Lisbon, Portugal

Wanderlust - Lisbon, Portugal

Is it just me or is everyone and their mother going to Portugal this year? I read somewhere that Faro, Portugal is the hottest destination for 2017. It sure seems like it.

Well, I want to go to Lisbon. I’ve always been a city break kind of person and luckily Topher hates beach holidays too. Even though I’ve been to Lisbon before, I want to go back. I loved the architecture, the vibe and also the food! I’m a big fan of seafood, sangria and pastel de nata.

#BEDM Day 17: Travel

Since I was a baby, travel has been a huge part of my life. Having visited over 30 countries and lived in 4, it’s safe to say I’ve always had the travel bug. Though it’s been a few years since I’ve been anywhere new, I have a few places on my bucket list that I hope one day I can visit.

1. Tokyo, Japan

A few years ago I was supposed to go with my family but literally the week before we bought our tickets, the huge earthquake and tsunami happened. We decided to save it for another time and went to Portugal instead. Since I was little I have always wanted to go to Japan as I love the culture, the food and the general wackiness of it. Hopefully the year that we visit shouldn’t be too far away as I’ve convinced Topher to go. It totally helps that they have a Disney park!

2. Reykjavik, Iceland

This seems to have been a popular choice with people in the last few years with a lot of people I know both online and off paying this city a visit – including my parents. I’m not a massive fan of cold weather but I was won over by the Northern Lights, the lagoon, volcanos and the cute colourful architecture. Fingers crossed we can squeeze this one in before 2020.

3. Oslo, Norway

Another cold weather destination. Topher loves Scandinavia and besides Iceland, this is the only Scandinavian country that I haven’t visited yet. It’s not one I’m in a massive rush to get to (I’ve done zero research into it) but I can’t leave it off my bucket list.

4. New Orleans, USA

There’s a certain fascination I have with New Orleans. I think a big part of it is the architecture, the food and the rich culture of the place. It’s only been on my list for a couple of years but it’s one that I’m desperate to visit. One day!

5. Chicago, USA

I don’t know why this one is on my list as much as the others but it’s definitely one that is here to stay until it gets done. I love city breaks and Chicago looks like a great place that would have lots of things to do. Plus I really want to try a deep dish pizza.

If you want to see more places I want to travel, you should definitely check out my travel Pinterest board. It literally makes me want to pack a suitcase every time I look at it.

What I’ve been pinning recently (I’m apparently in a dreamy mood looking at my choices):

How dreamy is this vintage dress? Perfect for a christmas cocktail party.

The bf and I really want to go to Iceland. This photo is gorgeous!

So many buttons – swoon!

Daaaamn this dress is pretty. Just like a fairytale.

Christmas is just around the corner! I really want to learn how to do this effect – to Google I go!

And speaking of Christmas, what a great idea for decorations. How good would these look in a strip in front of a window?

Just because we all need a little bit of cuteness. Look at it’s little content face, my heart is melting!

Love this picture of Tony Curtis and Marilyn Monroe on the set of Some Like it Hot. Tony Curtis is hilarious!
