Confetti Nails – Models Own Nail Art

I love confetti nails. I’ve been meaning to paint my nails for ages but I just haven’t had the time. I usually get impatient waiting for it to dry and end up ruining it somehow. It’s been 4 days and so far, it’s all good! I even went bowling with them and not a single chip.

Confetti Nails

I used Model’s Own Snow white as the base, then used one coat of Model’s Own glitter polish (the name escapes me now and I can’t see it on the website!) and topped with a coat of clear polish. I wanted to get a confetti look and I think I achieved it.

I find that with a lot of glitter polish’s you have to put on so many coats to get a consistent level of glitter but this was only one coat which I couldn’t believe. I’d be interested to see how many I’d need it I was just using this alone without the base layer as an accent colour.

Confetti Nails

Fingers crossed these last my whole holiday as I didn’t bring any other nail varnish with me!

Have you ever tried confetti nails?

All that glitters is gold

As I mentioned in my previous post nail envy it’s been a while since I painted my nails. Well last week I finally got back into the swing of it by painting them white with a layer of gold glitter. Both nail varnish’s are Models Own – Snow white and Gold Finger.

I love the way it catches the light and am dying to try this same style with a multi-colour glitter for a confetti effect.

My original plan was to have white with large gold polka dots (not unlike my current blog background) but I realized this wasn’t meant to be as I only have gold glitter polish. A design like that would require a consistent colour which I could only get from Gold Rush in the Models Own range. Another time.

What fun things have you painted on your nails recently?

Top picks #5

I’ve really got that spring fever now, or actually looking at these picks, summer fever! I’m not delusional, just about to go on holiday. Therefore these are sensible choices that I’ll use for my 2 week holiday and for the 2 or 3 days of sunshine we’ll get back here in the UK.
I’ve already purchased this Debenhams swimsuit for my holiday. I just fell in love with the cute little skirt and it’s no secret that I’m a fan of polka dots. Plus I fit in a 12! Perfect. I’m also in need of some sandals…so it looks like I got a little bit distracted. But both pairs of these shoes are so pretty. I’d wear the wedges with the Warehouse vest and light jeans.
I’m not so much in need for dresses but this Sugarhill boutique dress & Boden dress scream summer. Boden’s is very classy and elegant while Sugarhill Boutique’s is very fun and needs a desert backdrop to it in my opinion.
For those who follow me on Twitter, you would have seen me tweet about the Models Own speckled range for easter. Now that they’re on their website I’m definitely after a bottle or two. And I shouldn’t really have put this necklace on here as it’s sold out but hopefully it’ll be restocked soon. Say it will Eclectic Eccentricity? I need it!
I’m a sucker for a novelty handbag. In fact make that any novelty accessory. Anything that will put a smile on your face. This domino handbag is quite subtle but kitsch and would go with everything! At least everything in my wardrobe.

Outfit Post: Graduation Day

Not mine, but finally my boyfriends. 4 years of being together and it’s taken him 5 years to get through uni. He got a 2:1 and I am so proud of him.
Since it was ridiculously hot that day I had to wear something smart but weather appropriate.

Butterfly statement necklace – Primark, Dress – Forever 21

My new earrings from Ruby Robin Boutique. Those are dandelion seeds inside!

Wedges – New Look
And of course I had to paint my nails for the occasion.

Dripping paint nails

It’s been a while since I last painted my nails so I decided it was time to crack out the nail varnish again.  As usual, I had one idea of what I was doing in my head but it ended up as something completely different. In these situations I tend to just shrug my shoulders and go “Oh well, I meant to do that”. I like this much better than my original plan anyway!

Models Own: Lemon Meringue, Rimmel: How do you lilac it (*chuckles*), Models Own: Nail art pen in Black
The bf says it reminds him of rhubarb and custard. Nice and summery! Right, back to job hunting.
