Currently Loving – August 2019

I’m currently still easing myself in, ok? Drink every time I say currently.

Currently Watching

Loads of vlogs on Youtube. I’m really enjoying watching more than reading at the moment so vlogs are perfect for filling in my downtime. I watched loads of travel vlogs for Japan before we went in April and since Topher and I are off to Florida in October it’s all about Disney.

I’ve also got Topher into watching RuPaul’s Drag Race so we’ve been catching up on past seasons together. So many funny moments!

And even though we got rid of our Cineworld unlimited cards (damn you uncomfy seats) we went to the theatre for the third time in our 10 year relationship. Go see the Book of Mormon!

Currently Reading

I’m slowly getting into reading blogs again but right now I’m more into books. After joining the library last year I’ve read more than I have in years. Plus I always know I have my lunch hour to catch up on my reading. Currently reading a lot of chick lit as it’s the perfect way to shut my brain off. I also enjoy historical fiction, mysteries and the odd non fiction too.

Currently Listening

I don’t listen to as much music these days – it’s mainly podcasts I’m tuning in to. Lots of Disney, comedy, organisational and self improvement. I stopped listening to business ones when I quit freelancing last year as I just want to listen for a hobby now.

Currently Making

I finally started my honeymoon scrapbook the other day! I miss being creative for fun so this seemed like the perfect project to start with. Plus I need to get this done before I start my Japan trip one and I can’t wait for that. I’ll do a post when I’ve actually done a few pages.

Also along the same lines, I’ve stepped away from the world of bullet journaling in favour of a planner. It’s something I’ll do a full post on soon. I bought a planner that I can decorate every week which has been so fun. It’s the perfect injection of creativity while pushing me to be more organised.

And also I may have mentioned that I vlogged our trip to Japan. Well – all the episodes are now up on my youtube channel. Check them out here.

Currently Wearing

New tights. Snag tights. My life has changed. It’s so nice to go through a day of work with tights that stay up. That is all.

Currently Feeling

It’s hard to say just one emotion. I either seem to be up or down. Right now I’m up but last week I was really down. I really think the weather constantly changing isn’t helping me – I’m like a sunflower. I need light and sun.

But it’s ok as I’ve come to realise this:

Currently Planning

Trips! Topher, Emma and I are heading down to Devon for a week and I can’t wait for some downtime. Definitely bringing some books with me. And maybe even a sketchbook?

Also did I mention I’m going to Florida? ha ha.

Currently Loving

Topher and the cats. But then that’s all the time! So grateful for my little family. They’re always there to cheer me up when I’m not feeling my best.

Oh and my garden. Topher and my parents laid some new turf down and I am living for how lush it looks. No more dandelions!

Florida Scrapbook – I finally finished!

So it finally happened. I finished my Florida scrapbook. The one I started in 2016. For a trip that happened in 2015. Procrastinate much? Why yes I do!

I think it may have been because I put it on my 19 for 2019 list that made me bite the bullet and get it done. It’s not my best work by far but done and good is better then perfect but unfinished.

Check out my latest pages. Btw half of these I already did a couple of years ago but forgot to show you. Oh well.

If you want to see the previous pages check out my first post and my second post.

We tried every type of butterbeer!

A stupidly simple spread but I had too many photos of everyone in their Hogwarts robes.

There were so many details I wanted to remember about Halloween Horror Nights at Universal hence all the little notes!

This spread makes me laugh so much. It has the whole story of Adam discovering an American “salad” bar and loading up his plate with spaghetti and meatballs only to be reminded that he ordered a burger for his main.

Now this is actually where I restarted the project in 2019. You might be able to tell as it’s all a little rushed!

And here you’ll be able to see why I was still pretty damp when Topher proposed to me, ha ha. Gotta love a water ride.

This photo of the guys makes me laugh every time I see it. I loved their posing under the Betty Boop sign so of course added in some girly stickers to match.

I had these patterned cards picked out for a long time now so it was nice to finally get them stuck down. I can’t believe how much Animal Kingdom has changed since we visited. Can’t wait to visit this year!

Another park that has changed loads since we went. Can you tell I kinda just gave up on the right hand page?

I only had these two photos left from the trip so they got their own pages and I’m not mad about it. Especially the one on the right because that makes me smile.

Though this trip was a few years ago now the memories are still fresh as it was such an amazing holiday. It was already the best holiday every and the fact that Topher and I got engaged on it was just the icing on the cake.

I’m so happy that I finished this scrapbook as not only is this the first one I’ve ever completed but that it was for something awesome that I want to be able to look back on.

So there’s something ticked of my 19 for 2019 list!

#BEDM Day 18: My Scrapbook

Since today’s topic is nostalgia, I’m showing you an update of my holiday scrapbook for my holiday to Florida last year. It was one of the funnest trips I’ve ever been on and one of the first holidays I’ve done with a group of friends. Plus Topher proposed while we were out there which makes it extra special.

I’ve never actually made a scrapbook before so this is all new to me. It’s definitely something I want to continue doing in the future though. For the first few pages of this scrapbook, check out my first scrapbook update post.

So continuing on from there, here’s what I’ve been up to in the last few weeks.

scrapbook1

The A Beautiful Mess papers were so useful for the Mexico pages. I love how they all look together!

scrapbook2

I’m so happy with how the below page turned out. I actually meant the writing to be straight but I messed up the first couple and just went with it. See – I meant to do that!

scrapbook3

scrapbook4

I love how the Italy and Norway pages turned out. They are very different but are on the same spread which I assume should annoy me but it doesn’t in the slightest.

scrapbook5

scrapbook6

Since I had everyone’s costume’s as separate photos I wanted to be able to fit everyone on the same spread but of course the only way to do that would be to cut us all out. I’m so glad I did that and it turned out great!

scrapbook7

scrapbook8

I went a bit mad with the washi tape on this page but I really like the effect. It was perfect for Harry Potter.

scrapbook9

Yes I saved my ice cream cone wrapper. I just couldn’t get over how cute the packaging was so I had to keep it.

scrapbook10

I also may have gotten impatient and skipped forward a bit to do Topher and I’s engagement page! It’s so great to be able to look back on that moment. I still can’t believe I had no idea.

scrapbook11

Now I really look forward to Sunday’s where I’ll work on this while listening to a podcast. It’s really therapeutic. Here’s to the rest of this scrapbook and many more to come after.

My Holiday Scrapbook Update

My holiday scrapbook update

IMG_5967
It’s been a few weeks since I last worked on my scrapbook from our Florida holiday but I’m hoping this post showing my progress so far will spur me on to continue.
IMG_5968

The majority of the supplies I used were from when I had a subscriptions to A Beautiful Mess’s Messy Box. Though all the washi tapes used were things I sourced individually.
IMG_5970

I’ve never actually made a scrapbook before (started a couple, sure) but I love both the visual and story telling elements of them. It’s nice to have somewhere to jot down little memories of fun times. So that’s what I did on this page. Going to Magic Kingdom on the first day was a big thing for all of us. For a few, it was their first time laying their eyes on the castle and it was pretty emotional.
IMG_5971

That’s something I really enjoy, introducing people to new things, or even re-introducing people to things they had long forgotten about. This was the 6th trip I had taken people to a Disney park for the first time and I just can’t get enough of the look on people’s faces. It’s truly magical.
IMG_5972

Topher was a big fan of the second breakfast sticker!

I just love how colourful and fun the stickers I used were.

True story. My friend’s first character interaction was with Mary Poppins at Epcot and my oh my was she mean! She told us off for not being ready and I get that Mary Poppins is supposed to be strict but it was a world away from the last time Topher, Emma and I met her. It was a bit of a shame but we all laugh about it now.
IMG_5977

I am so proud of Emma for trying escargot. Considering how much of a picky eater she used to be it’s amazing how much progress she has made in the last few years. 4 out of the 7 of us tried it and I think for me that will be the last time! Ick.

Luna is a big fan of my work. But mainly she’s a big fan of the washi tapes I use!
IMG_5982

So when it comes to organising my scrapbook, I created a little method for myself. I had my favourite photos from the trip printed, then I put them in the order I wanted (by day and by theme) and started placing them on the pages in the positions I wanted. Once I was happy, I would paperclip/bulldog clip the photos to the page and carry on. Once all the photos were assigned to pages I went through my scrapbook supplies and assigned certain papers and stickers to particular pages. Those were added to the paperclips and from there I could work on whatever pages I wanted, whenever I wanted.
IMG_5984

It is a perfect way to store my scrapbook as it means I can carry it around the house without all the loose stuff falling out. there are a fair few pages that don’t have any extra elements assigned yet but that’s part of the fun. As my supply grows, I can add to the book.

I am promising myself that I will work on this every Sunday. It’s therapeutic and I enjoy it.

My week #13

And it’s February! Topher thinks January went on forever but I’m not so sure. Anyway, this is the month I find myself busy every weekend so there’s lots to look forward to. As for the last two weeks, it’s been on the more relaxing side. The weather has been miserable so we haven’t gone out much. I can’t wait until spring – sunlight makes me happy.

On the wedding front, I’m happy to say that we have now booked both a venue and a photographer. Time to relax a little. My bridesmaids and I are going to the National Wedding Fair in a couple of weeks but apart from that we can chill a little until the summer. Lovely! The house sale is also coming along – we received a load of paperwork for all the house checks so hopefully we’ll be able to get in next month. Fingers crossed!

We also did something we haven’t done in awhile – gone out clubbing. I felt old. Clubs really aren’t my scene but I had a good time seeing friends. I’m definitely more of an invite your friends around to play board games kinda gal. After years of asking I finally agreed to play Topher at chess. He was happy until I beat him. I did try to warn him that I went to a chess club when I was in primary school. Don’t mess.

On the creative front, I officially started my Florida scrapbook and it was going really well until I ran out of glue! So once I’ve got some more I’ll be back up and running. It’s quite therapeutic and I can’t wait to finish it. I’ve also got some more painting done which I have been turning into prints. After seeing other people on my Instagram feed reading “Big Magic” by Elizabeth Gilbert, I bought myself a copy to see what all the fuss was about. So far, so good. I’ll probably do a review of it when I finish.

How has your fortnight been?
