My Week #59 – Car boots and de-cluttering

*Car boot noms *New light fixture in the living room

*New sparkly shoes *Pickles being cuddly AF

The rain held off long enough for Emma and I to do a car boot in peace.

Phew! More stuff gone. I might even do another one this weekend if the weather holds out. Though looking out the window right now that may not happen! I’m really getting on it now with the house. I got so sick of all the rubbish in the run up to the wedding and now I have the free time to finally do something about it. Just wait, soon everything will have a place.

I lost half a pound at Slimming World

With the mountain of crap I ate this week I was shocked that I still lost weight. But the ladies there have a theory that I’m shedding the stress weight I put on just before the wedding. Fingers crossed I keep going the right way because I’m in danger of not fitting into a couple of things I bought ages ago for the honeymoon.

Speaking of the honeymoon…

Everything is now booked and currency is sorted. Plus I found out that The Color Factory existed through Instagram and immediately signed up to their mailing list to await ticket sales for September. How amazing does it look?! It only opened this month in San Francisco and so I thought it would be a cool idea to go while we’re there. Only a few days later they went on sale and I pounced. I got tickets for Topher and I and I am beyond excited.

I also got some new sparkly trainers which I can’t wait to wear over there. I immediately changed the shoe laces to regular ones (thanks eBay!) as I wasn’t a fan of the wide ribbon ones they came with. I’m already packing my suitcase in my head. Is it too early to start packing? It’s just under a month away…

In other news of capitalism I think I may have jumped on the pin collecting train

All in my head of course – it ain’t quite payday yet! So for those who follow me on Pinterest, I profusely apologies for the pin spam over the last 24 hours. I would say I won’t do it again but I’m lying. #sorrynotsorry It all started with this pin right here:

My Week #58 – A Week Full Of Food

my week #58

*Manchester University *Homemade paella

*Monday morning coffee *New hair

*Cocktails on the town *Outfit and tiles

*Luna *Introducing Emma to Mowgli

I didn’t realise exactly how much I did this week until I started writing!

I’ve been still dragging my feet getting back into my full routine but I introduced another section and feel a bit better for it. As for out of the house activities, they’ve been plentiful. We started the week by helping some friends out with their wedding dressing business. Apparently I really enjoy putting chair covers on. Quite satisfying and it was nice to get out of the house and help friends.

I stuck to Slimming World 100% for about 3 days and 50% the rest of the week.

And by some miracle managed to lose a pound so not bad going. My main worry was that the night before weigh in we went out for a friend’s birthday which included dinner and LOTS of cocktails. But I guess my hard work at the beginning of the week paid off. Yay!

I dyed my hair

Finally took the plunge and it’s now black with a hint of blue. I think I’m just about used to it now. It’s taken me a week. I love the length now so much – washing and brushing my hair is a breeze and my head feels so much lighter. Someone asked me if this was my new wife hair which made me laugh. My usual look is short dyed hair – I just let it grow long for the wedding so I could have it up. Yes I know that post is from 5 years ago but that hair makes me feel most like myself.

I left my natural colour in for the wedding I think because I plan on having a lot of different hair colours over my life so I wanted something natural for my wedding. Not sure if that makes any sense but it does to me and that’s all that matters.

I’m on a bit of a sorting out and decluttering spree again

Hopefully planning on doing another car boot this weekend (please don’t rain!) and I’ve been working hard to try and get the house back to normal again. I just let so much slide in the run up to the wedding. Everything is everywhere. I’m just glad I can work in my office again.

My Week #54 – And so it begins…

*Pickles in a box *Working at Ziferblat

*IWOOT & Mankind Event *Pancakes at Moose’s

Hello June! And hello madness. From now until our wedding next month (oh my god I can say next month now) it’s just all go with everything. I’ve got blog events including Blogtacular, 3 weddings, our hen and stag parties along with work (got some new clients, yay!) and final bits of wedding planning madness. Just writing that makes me want to take a nap.

But before we dive into June, lets take a quick look at the last week of May

I won two free hours at Ziferblat on Twitter

So excited as I barely win anything. Since I was busy last Friday and today, I decided to take a day on Wednesday and get out of the house to get some work done. It was lovely. I think I’ll do it more often in future as I got a lot more done.

Plus, Ziferblat have started offering more healthier options like salad and veg to go with all the cake that’s around. Phew! As much as I like cake, it’s nice to not have to worry so much about going overboard with the sugar. Yay.

I lost a pound at Slimming World

And it’s a good thing too what with the next few weeks coming up. It’s all about damage control! I’m not too bothered with how much I lose for a bit now as long as it’s not too much on.

Emma is back!

Topher’s sister has been in the Far East for the last 4 months and she got back this morning. She knew her mum was going to pick her up but Topher and I went along too to surprise her. It was lovely seeing her again and we all went to Moose’s for pancakes.

I went to the IWOOT and Mankind event last night

It was really fun and I will be doing a post on it next week.

My Week #53 – My beloved Manchester

*Falafel Pizza (yes you read right) *Lucardo

*Black Milk *After my hair and makeup trial (I pulled 40 bobby pins out of my head!)

The radio silence is over.

What a sucky week. Am I right or am I right? Plenty of people have done more eloquently written dedications that put into words how we all feel right now so I don’t really feel like adding anything into the mix.

All I will say is rest in peace to the 22 people who lost their lives at the MEN on Monday night. I may not have been born in Manchester but it’s my home, I love it from the bottom of my heart and I hope we all continue to stick together like we have done this week.

So what did I get up to this week?

The weekend was lovely. I’ll be doing a full post on it next week but in a nutshell, I went to Lucardo with Topher, Claire and Steve and we ate at Dough and Black Milk. A great way to spend a Sunday.

I did not get much work done at all this week but hopefully I’ll be back on it next week.

Monday, I went for my second dress fitting. It’s getting real! Then Topher and I had an appointment at the registrars. I feel so much better now – all my questions were answered and we actually know the name of who’s marrying us now.

I had my hair and makeup trial on Wednesday. It went well. Though boy oh boy do I have a lot of hair! It’s so thick. I’m having my hair up and it needed 40 bobby pins. I need to get a hairdresser to take the weight out of it. Can’t wait to chop it all off after the wedding!

This week has been pretty good for wedding stuff actually. I’ve been DIYing like a boss and also discovering that some things shouldn’t be DIYed. I’ve still got so many flowers to make but I feel like I’ve got a handle on it now. Less than 50 days to go!

I put on a pound at Slimming World

Last week I mentioned that I maintained after a really good week and got really upset about it. So I seriously sabotaged myself this week. It was horrific the amount of bad things I ate. So much so that I was full on craving fruit when I went to the supermarket yesterday.

But by another miracle, I only put on a pound. Not good but I was expecting at least 3 so I was overjoyed. I impulse bought so much fruit and I didn’t buy any chocolate (le gasp). Not even Kit Kats. I think it’s best to keep temptation away from me – I can’t seem to only have a little bit. So lets see how this week works out.

My Week #52 – Home cooking & Preparations

*Sweet potato pakoras *Planted some cat grass for the kitties – hope they like it!

*Lunch at Bakchich *Sleepy Pickles

This past week will be known as the week of cooking.

After Slimming World, I chained myself to the kitchen and tried out loads of new recipes. All delicious and I stuck to plan almost all week. Stand outs were sweet potato pakoras, chilli pasta bake and chicken & blacken tortilla boats which we made for Eurovision.

Then Tuesday happened. We went to Bakchich for the first time and it was awesome – I’ll be doing a post on this soon! And of course afterwards I insisted on a trip to Milkjam so you can probably guess what happened.

Luckily despite that I managed to maintain at Slimming World, which to be honest pissed me off at the time. I felt like I deserved to lose something. So I got upset and inhaled a family sized chocolate bar amongst other things. So that was that. Back on plan today though so fingers crossed I do better next week.

Wedding Preparations are going well

We got Topher’s suit and ring ordered this week. Yay! And we visited the registry office to get details sorted about the legal bit. Why is there barely no information on how to actually get legally married? So we’ve got an appointment with them next week.

We’ve done the seating plan, come up with table names, ordered the cake toppers and it feels like my to do list is finally getting smaller.

Flowers are going ok – just trudging along. We’ve also both started plans for our hen and stag parties. I can’t believe its less than 2 months away now.

And that’s pretty much it

Not much else to report. It feels like a lot of the same at the moment.
