My Week #65 – Getting Cozy

*Fuzzy socks! *Autumn loveliness

Went to see little Adam’s play – really good! *Pretty sunset

Time for the cliche omg it’s autumn post.

There was such a drop in temperature this week that I had to dig out the fuzzy socks! It’s been a week of hot drinks and cozy blankets and the cats have been even cuddlier than usual. I do love this time of year but I haven’t had much time to enjoy it so far. I’ve had a bit of a bad mental health week and it’s really affected me. I think it was due to not having much work on my hands but I’ve picked up a couple of new projects and feel that things are turning around so I’m trying to get into a new routine.

I’ve started painting again too which I really missed but didn’t realise until I had a sudden urge to pick up a paint brush at 3am the other night during a bought of insomnia. I didn’t pick it up until the next day but my love was reignited for it. I learned that I don’t like acrylics and I still can’t abstract paint but I’m still good at watercolours! It’s nice having a hobby that doesn’t involve a screen.

I’m taking a break with Slimming World

It’s a combination of trying to save some money and the fact that I don’t seem to be focused enough on losing weight. So it’s like I’m throwing money out the window. I haven’t made any progress at all this year. The last week got me thinking that I need to take a step back and see how I do alone. I’m still sticking to plan as much as I can but I feel like I’ve been depriving myself recently which has lead to binging and thats not what Slimming World is about.

I’m not planning on jumping off the deep end into takeaways and junk food – just sticking to the healthy home cooked I usually make. And now that I’m going to the gym I feel like I have something new to focus on. I’m overall happy with my size, I just want to tone up and see how I do.

Wish me luck! Have you ever found yourself in a similar position to this?

My Week #62 – Packing and Planning

*Lovely Luna *My holiday notebooks

*New trainers *Packing madness

So much packing and planning this week!

It’s only a few days before Topher and I head off on our honeymoon and I am so freaking excited. So excited ¬†that I filmed my first Vlog. Check it out here and please let me know what you think:

It wasn’t too hard and I got a bit more comfortable in front of the camera as time went on. Fingers crossed that I can actually keep this up while I’m away as it would be so awesome to have some videos to show when I get back. At the very least I’ll have my usual music video type highlight reel of the trip.

So this week has mainly consisted of getting stuff ready for the honeymoon.

I’ve been sorting out work and I’ve been scheduling tweets and posts for while I’m away so things should be ticking over. I’m almost finished packing and I’m currently transferring all my spreadsheets into note form to put into my notebooks.

Everything I need to buy has now been ticked off the list. Rucksack, check, Trainers, check and Shorts, check. Though as of yesterday I couldn’t find any shorts so had to resort to buying sale jeans and cropping them myself.

And I have to take a minute to talk about my new trainers. They’re Nike and my parents picked them up for me from the outlets in Florida as they just got back from the USA themselves this past week. I am in love with these trainers. They’re purple which is my favourite colour, they’re super light and I think they are without a doubt the comfiest pair of shoes I’ve ever walked around in. So pretty and lovely.

I lost a pound at Slimming World

By some miracle. No idea how – we were completely off plan bar the slimming world ready meals we got so we could avoid takeaway temptation. That makes me feel a little better before I head off. I’m even toying with the idea of joining a gym when I get back. Who am I? I’ve been to the gym once when I was 17 or so with my mum. It wasn’t bad but obviously I didn’t catch the bug. Maybe I can piggyback off of all the walking I’m about to do. So much walking. Watch this space.

As for this weekend,

Topher and I are going out for a friend’s 30th on Saturday. Sunday I’m sure will be full of cleaning as Emma will be house sitting for us while we’re away and I don’t want to leave her in a tip! Otherwise, please excuse me while I dance around the house because I’m going on holiday in 3 days! Squee!

My Week #59 – Car boots and de-cluttering

*Car boot noms *New light fixture in the living room

*New sparkly shoes *Pickles being cuddly AF

The rain held off long enough for Emma and I to do a car boot in peace.

Phew! More stuff gone. I might even do another one this weekend if the weather holds out. Though looking out the window right now that may not happen! I’m really getting on it now with the house. I got so sick of all the rubbish in the run up to the wedding and now I have the free time to finally do something about it. Just wait, soon everything will have a place.

I lost half a pound at Slimming World

With the mountain of crap I ate this week I was shocked that I still lost weight. But the ladies there have a theory that I’m shedding the stress weight I put on just before the wedding. Fingers crossed I keep going the right way because I’m in danger of not fitting into a couple of things I bought ages ago for the honeymoon.

Speaking of the honeymoon…

Everything is now booked and currency is sorted. Plus I found out that The Color Factory existed through Instagram and immediately signed up to their mailing list to await ticket sales for September. How amazing does it look?! It only opened this month in San Francisco and so I thought it would be a cool idea to go while we’re there. Only a few days later they went on sale and I pounced. I got tickets for Topher and I and I am beyond excited.

I also got some new sparkly trainers which I can’t wait to wear over there. I immediately changed the shoe laces to regular ones (thanks eBay!) as I wasn’t a fan of the wide ribbon ones they came with. I’m already packing my suitcase in my head. Is it too early to start packing? It’s just under a month away…

In other news of capitalism I think I may have jumped on the pin collecting train

All in my head of course – it ain’t quite payday yet! So for those who follow me on Pinterest, I profusely apologies for the pin spam over the last 24 hours. I would say I won’t do it again but I’m lying. #sorrynotsorry It all started with this pin right here:

On a side note – I’m looking for guest posters for while I’m away next month so if you fancy writing on here, get in touch.¬†

My Week #58 – A Week Full Of Food

my week #58

*Manchester University *Homemade paella

*Monday morning coffee *New hair

*Cocktails on the town *Outfit and tiles

*Luna *Introducing Emma to Mowgli

I didn’t realise exactly how much I did this week until I started writing!

I’ve been still dragging my feet getting back into my full routine but I introduced another section and feel a bit better for it. As for out of the house activities, they’ve been plentiful. We started the week by helping some friends out with their wedding dressing business. Apparently I really enjoy putting chair covers on. Quite satisfying and it was nice to get out of the house and help friends.

I stuck to Slimming World 100% for about 3 days and 50% the rest of the week.

And by some miracle managed to lose a pound so not bad going. My main worry was that the night before weigh in we went out for a friend’s birthday which included dinner and LOTS of cocktails. But I guess my hard work at the beginning of the week paid off. Yay!

I dyed my hair

Finally took the plunge and it’s now black with a hint of blue. I think I’m just about used to it now. It’s taken me a week. I love the length now so much – washing and brushing my hair is a breeze and my head feels so much lighter. Someone asked me if this was my new wife hair which made me laugh. My usual look is short dyed hair – I just let it grow long for the wedding so I could have it up. Yes I know that post is from 5 years ago but that hair makes me feel most like myself.

I left my natural colour in for the wedding I think because I plan on having a lot of different hair colours over my life so I wanted something natural for my wedding. Not sure if that makes any sense but it does to me and that’s all that matters.

I’m on a bit of a sorting out and decluttering spree again

Hopefully planning on doing another car boot this weekend (please don’t rain!) and I’ve been working hard to try and get the house back to normal again. I just let so much slide in the run up to the wedding. Everything is everywhere. I’m just glad I can work in my office again.

My Week #54 – And so it begins…

*Pickles in a box *Working at Ziferblat

*IWOOT & Mankind Event *Pancakes at Moose’s

Hello June! And hello madness. From now until our wedding next month (oh my god I can say next month now) it’s just all go with everything. I’ve got blog events including Blogtacular, 3 weddings, our hen and stag parties along with work (got some new clients, yay!) and final bits of wedding planning madness. Just writing that makes me want to take a nap.

But before we dive into June, lets take a quick look at the last week of May

I won two free hours at Ziferblat on Twitter

So excited as I barely win anything. Since I was busy last Friday and today, I decided to take a day on Wednesday and get out of the house to get some work done. It was lovely. I think I’ll do it more often in future as I got a lot more done.

Plus, Ziferblat have started offering more healthier options like salad and veg to go with all the cake that’s around. Phew! As much as I like cake, it’s nice to not have to worry so much about going overboard with the sugar. Yay.

I lost a pound at Slimming World

And it’s a good thing too what with the next few weeks coming up. It’s all about damage control! I’m not too bothered with how much I lose for a bit now as long as it’s not too much on.

Emma is back!

Topher’s sister has been in the Far East for the last 4 months and she got back this morning. She knew her mum was going to pick her up but Topher and I went along too to surprise her. It was lovely seeing her again and we all went to Moose’s for pancakes.

I went to the IWOOT and Mankind event last night

It was really fun and I will be doing a post on it next week.
