My Week #54 – And so it begins…

*Pickles in a box *Working at Ziferblat

*IWOOT & Mankind Event *Pancakes at Moose’s

Hello June! And hello madness. From now until our wedding next month (oh my god I can say next month now) it’s just all go with everything. I’ve got blog events including Blogtacular, 3 weddings, our hen and stag parties along with work (got some new clients, yay!) and final bits of wedding planning madness. Just writing that makes me want to take a nap.

But before we dive into June, lets take a quick look at the last week of May

I won two free hours at Ziferblat on Twitter

So excited as I barely win anything. Since I was busy last Friday and today, I decided to take a day on Wednesday and get out of the house to get some work done. It was lovely. I think I’ll do it more often in future as I got a lot more done.

Plus, Ziferblat have started offering more healthier options like salad and veg to go with all the cake that’s around. Phew! As much as I like cake, it’s nice to not have to worry so much about going overboard with the sugar. Yay.

I lost a pound at Slimming World

And it’s a good thing too what with the next few weeks coming up. It’s all about damage control! I’m not too bothered with how much I lose for a bit now as long as it’s not too much on.

Emma is back!

Topher’s sister has been in the Far East for the last 4 months and she got back this morning. She knew her mum was going to pick her up but Topher and I went along too to surprise her. It was lovely seeing her again and we all went to Moose’s for pancakes.

I went to the IWOOT and Mankind event last night

It was really fun and I will be doing a post on it next week.

How was your week?

#BEDM Day 13: A Day In The Life

Happy Friday the 13th! Well I don’t know about you but I had a pretty good day considering it’s supposed to be a day full of bad luck. Anyway, here’s my day in the life. One in which I leave the house. I know, exciting right? Yes I’m a hermit.

So what better way to start than with the breakfast of champions? Porridge with bananas, cinnamon and almond milk, half a grapefruit and a big mug of coffee. This is how my day starts. After a quick shower at least. Just like when I had a 9-5, reading blogs in the morning over breakfast is really important to me. It’s my favourite way to set myself up for the day.

After a marathon of reading, I get a few errands around the house done before getting dressed and ready to head out. But not before stopping to give this one a quick cuddle!

Pickles has a current obsession with sinks. He’ll meow and rub his head against the tap until you turn it on. Then he’ll madly bat his paw at the stream of water. Silly boy.

Quick hair check!

Then it’s a speed walk to the train station. How nice was the weather today? A bit on the chilly side but I got some use out of my sunglasses.

Arriving at Zieferblat for Freelance Friday I stop for a glass of cucumber & mint water. Yum!

dayinthelife9

Then I set myself up and get to work (and chat to my fellow freelancers!).

I’ve got to head home a bit early today so I can drop Topher at work so I get the crowded rush hour train home. Luckily I manage to grab a seat.

Another lovely walk home. I like this commute!

Once I’ve dropped Topher off, it’s time to make my dinner of steak, potatoes and veg and then I can relax.

The rest of the evening is spent watching Netflix and waiting to pick up Topher. Then just a bit more work I need to finish off and it’s off to bed with me. Not a bad day as Friday the 13th’s go!

What does your day look like?

Ziferblat Cafe: Manchester Northern Quarter

IMG_1463
Ziferblat cafe in Manchester’s Northern Quarter is a new cafe that I’ve frequented a lot over the last couple of months. Mainly due to the fact that it was the location of the Bloggers Market MCR last weekend, but I also paid a visit myself with friends.

It’s an unusual but interesting concept cafe where everything inside is free but you pay 5p per minute.  A giant living room full of comfy sofas, tables & chairs with boardgames to play and a kitchen stocked with endless tea, coffee, cereal, biscuits and cakes.

Considering a Starbucks coffee and cake could set you back around £5/£6, Ziferblat is a bargain. Spend an hour and it will cost you £3. Enough time to relax with a couple of coffees and all the cake you can stuff in your face.

When visiting with friends, we took advantage of all the board games that weren’t already being used. They even had Cards Against Humanity! Win.

Though it’s fun to bring your friends, you could easily come alone. It looks like a great place to come and get some work done if you bring your laptop so ideal for students and freelancers.

So next time you’re in the Norther Quarter and have an hour or two to kill, head to Ziferblat for a break. It’s an awesome place.

Disclosure – I have not been asked to do this review, I’m just a big fan!
