Brunch at Revolucion de Cuba

*This post is in collaboration with Revolucion de Cuba – Brunch was complimentary in exchange for a review, however opinions are my own as always.

Revolucion de Cuba in Manchester is best known for their amazing cocktails, which I have sampled on a work night out or two. I knew they did food but had never had the pleasure of trying. But when I found out they are now offering brunch, I jumped at a chance to review it.

It was the first time I had ever visited during the day so was pleasantly surprised with how big the place is. It was a nice atmosphere for a Sunday morning/afternoon. There was a guitarist playing up on the stage and about a third of the place was full with other brunch goers.

After perusing the menu, Topher decided on the breakfast burrito and I on the brûléed porridge with mixed berries. We also ordered cranberry juice, orange juice and a coffee for the caffeine addict that is my fiancé.

How pretty is this table by the way?

The coffee Topher ordered came out like this. We loved the presentation – the tiny milk bottle is the cutest! And the mini brownie was an agreeable addition. Rather tasty! Topher was nice enough to share it with me.

Topher had the breakfast burrito which he described as tasty and filling, but not too heavy which was nice as he hates that feeling of being too full. It was definitely a helpful factor considering we spent the next few hours walking around the city centre.

His burrito paled in comparison however to what I had for brunch. Up until a few days before this brunch, I had never even heard of brûléed porridge. But reading up on what we want to do on our honeymoon (a USA road trip) I came across it and immediately put it on my must eat list. So I was excited to see it appear on the menu at Revolucion de Cuba.

This was like heaven in a cup. For £3.50 the portion is what you would expect. Small but my oh my is it filling! About half way through it I wished there was more but by the time I finished I realised that it was the perfect size. I was happily full like Topher was. If you have a sweet tooth then this is the perfect choice. Also the berries were a good accompaniment – does that count as one of my five a day?

We both really enjoyed the brunch and will definitely visit in the future. The brunch cocktails need sampling, Topher wants to try the full grilled breakfast, and I need another hit of that porridge!

Brunch at Revolucion de Cuba is available every Saturday and Sunday.
